Pieces by Abakanowicz See Light of Day for the First Time in 20 years

Sculptures by Polish artist, Magdalena Abakanowicz, created from 1973 to 2000 are on display in Valencia´s Institute of Modern Art (IVAM). Some of the pieces, made from bronze, iron, wood, resin, nylon, sisal and sacking, have not been exhibited for more than 20 years.

The sculptures, including "Figures", "Embryologie", "Abakan", "Skull", "Giver", "Backs" and "The Cage", are on loan from the Marlborough Gallery in New York and the National Museum of Wroclaw.

Abakanowicz was born in Poland in 1930 and trained at the Warsaw Fine Arts Academy before becoming an internationally renowned artist in the mid 70 ´s.
